1924 – 2024, a historic celebration of sport and culture

Stade Yves du Manoir, July 13, 1924 – Marathon event. One hundred years later, field field hockey events will be held in the legendary sports arena.
Stade Yves du Manoir, July 13, 1924 – Start of the Marathon. Finnish athlete lbin Stenroos won the event with a time of 2 hours, 41 minutes and 22 seconds, which was an Olympic record at the time. Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge now holds the title, with a time of 2 h 1 min 9 s set on September 25, 2022.

At these Games, many sporting disciplines are contested for the first time, adding an extra touch of excitement. Figure skating, boxing, rugby union and alpine skiing were included in the Olympic program, offering spectators a variety of competitions to admire.

Among the highlights of the Games were those referring to the exploits of legendary American athlete Paavo Nurmi, who won five gold medals in athletics, establishing his dominance over long distances. Swimming also drew admiration, with Johnny Weissmuller winning four gold medals and setting several world records.
